1894 Singing section for Champions League Group Stage

Is it because of the segregation or are they trying to compete with each other? Is there some sort of rivalry going on? I often wonder about this. Puzzled of Eccles.

i think its competing with each other a lot of the time. I've been in 115 a few times and you can hear 110/111 fine when they sing and vice versa. but everytime say 111 sing the south stand seem to sign different songs.

Its difficult to know if the acoustics are really that bad. I remember Lech Poznan when there fans were in the third tier of Colin Bell and the noise was echoing around the stadium. If enough sing it will happen but the majority cannot be bothered.

thats what i thought. poznan or aris you could hear word for word what they were singing from the third tier. we just need more people actually singing

The closer you are to the front (of either section) the more you can hear the other section. Unfortunately most of the people who get songs going are further back in the stand.

it would be great if those people at the back were at the front/middle instead. there to far back and you can't hear them well from other parts of the ground. btw with the wolves game being so cheap and having an entire south stand it would be great to see another singing section.

I noticed Atletico have managed to relocate their singing end straight into the same end at the new stadium - and it's not divided by oppo fans either. Course it was still intact whereas the Kippax was already broken up by the time we moved so it was a whole lot easier.

Having said that, looking at the Chelsea game, what caught my attention is you can't see any aisles it's so full. You can see it on this video. Wonder how they get that stewarding past all-seater UEFA requirements! Well it is all seater just you can stand where you want.

Fair play to the 1894 lads for trying to get it going. They are up against it.

Manchester City fan group 1894 is calling on the fans to try and improve the atmosphere at the Etihad.

Plenty has been said in the past about what can be done to improve the atmosphere at City's home stadium with the singing section being introduced in the South Stand.

But the 1894 group isn't stopping there and has been working on ideas of how to improve the atmosphere even further.

A spokesman for the group, who are behind weekly flag displays at the Etihad said: "The main issue we face is ensuring that people in different parts of the ground are all singing the same song at the same time.

"That may sound obvious but at our ground the main singing areas south tier 1 south tier 3 and Kippax corner simply can't hear each other.

"There isn't a big overall noise as you can have three separate songs going at the same time by three different pockets of fans.

"We as a fan base have got to come together and find a way of linking up more. The passion is there but the noise simply does not travel well , remember the stadium was built for athletics and the away supporters are still splitting up the main body of singers at our place.

"We are traditionalists and we would want the atmosphere to be like it was in the good old days but maybe there are too many factors against us and maybe for a future European game we might have to look at a megaphone - not to be used non stop but if used sparingly and sensibly it might be a way that allows people on different tiers to hear the same song. We're still considering that."

Pep Guardiola reportedly called on the club to treat improving the atmosphere as a priority and 1894 believe there are ways the club could help to improve the atmosphere - including introducing safe standing.

A spokesman said: "There are other ways around this. The club could add materials underneath the roof in each tier to allow the noise to amplify and travel better than is happening now and they could also bring in a safestanding section which would increase capacity and thereby allow all those who wished to stand and sing together on one larger area."

At present Celtic are the only British side to introduce rail seating but City have explored the possibility of setting up a standing area in either the North Stand or South Stand while making expansion plans recently.

I like what 1894 are doing. People will disagree with the European ultra culture but this is the way it has gone and we need organization to create atmosphere now. This is why palace get so many plaudits when in reality selhurt park used to be a bit shit. All it takes is for someone to get the ball rolling.

We get banned for standing and or singing on front rows, so we've gone from 107/ 106 A to 110/111 k, with further rows back in 109 in between.

You won't get singers in early rows because of the standing. You also get pissed wet (option I've took so I don't get showsec ruining the day - although they seemed to have done one since our letters to the club post Burnley)

Pep wants this so the club should act
