2017/18 Checkatrade(EFL) Trophy (15/08 v Rotherham)

May be a chance to get to some new grounds in the lower divisions.

Won't bother with any home games. Wouldn't have thought we will play at the Etihad.
We got 3007 last time we played in this comp - and that wasn't with a youth team.

Was 26th last year I was looking today, can't wait for this. 27th July if the same Wed again this year. It would be fun getting Blackburn, it was their academy team last year and now their first team.

From a purely selfish point of view im happy to be in the comp as it will be intersting to see how the young players get on against league sides. However the thought of b teams joining the football league is hugely concerning. Hopefully fan power will stop it but money talks and lower league sides are desperate for it.

Its a bizarre situation though when you could see a football league cup potentially have to two b teams in the final. Pretty sad really as even though its not a great compatition it is a chance for lower league fans to go to wembley.

The 48 Football League teams have been drawn already - Category 1 clubs are drawn separately as previously mentioned on the 12th.

Northern Half Only:

Group A - Carlisle United, Fleetwood Town, Morecambe

Group B - Accrington Stanley, Blackpool, Wigan Athletic

Group C - Blackburn Rovers, Bury, Rochdale

Group D - Crewe Alexandra, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale

Group E - Coventry City, Shrewsbury Town, Walsall

Group F - Bradford City, Chesterfield, Rotherham United

Group G - Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Notts County

Group H - Doncaster Rovers, Grimsby Town, S****horpe United

To be drawn in those groups are Everton, Leicester City, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Stoke City, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion.

Getting all geeky here, and I know it's not the first team:

Group A - Carlisle United, Fleetwood Town, Morecambe
Seen City at Carlisle and City Reserves at Morecambe's old ground so potentially 2 new grounds with City.

Group B - Accrington Stanley, Blackpool, Wigan Athletic
Seen City at Blackpool and Wigan so potentially 1 new ground with City.

Groups C & D - Blackburn Rovers, Bury, Rochdale and Crewe Alexandra, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale
Seen City at all of them.

Group E - Coventry City, Shrewsbury Town, Walsall
Seen City at Coventry's old ground and the other two so potentially 1 new ground with City.

Group F - Bradford City, Chesterfield, Rotherham United
Seen City at Rotherham's old ground and the other two so potentially 1 new ground with City.

Groups G & H - Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Notts County and Doncaster Rovers, Grimsby Town, S****horpe United
Seen City at all of them.
