I've been following the developments in battery technology since the news of graphine came out. Anyway it turns out the use of graphine is a bit away yet due to mass production problems.

However, the designer of the lithium iron battery 94 year old Professor John Goodenough has designed a new concept that could make batteries practical and could make electric cars mainstream as they have longer shelf life, more power storage and quicker to charge.

Anyway. It's interesting stuff. And the professors name can be sung to the theme tune to the Goonies which makes it even more compelling!

Silly fucker, new batteries won't do him any good at that age, it's a whole new circuit-board he needs.

This story is a few months old.

It's plausible though as always the "SCIENTISTS ARE STUMPED!" stuff is overstated.

There are lots of competing technologies out there these days and many of them more compelling than this; all about who can build a better mousetrap given the limitations and more latterly, the price of lithium.
