Paperchase on St Anne's square; great for posters!

Great for bootlegs as well mate. I still have a Buzzcocks and a Devo bootleg from there. I walked down there when I was over in Sept. Didn't know it had closed (I didn't even see the stairs to get down).

Just some things I remember as a kid.....

Trolley buses on Ashton New Road and Hyde Road.
I remember seeing the trolley bus cables over the road somewhere near Piccadilly Gardens (when they were gardens)
Catlows corner shop, Abbey Hey Lane, Gorton.

Gorton Cross Street, Wheelers Records, Phil Green hardware shop.

Playing on the big rock in Ardwick Green park.

Messing about on the escalators in Lewis's

Robinson's records, Market Street Manchester.

Beatties model shop. Manchester
Was that the one on the corner of Deansgate and Bootle Street? I remember working 'in the area' and one lad was really getting excited about some 0-4-0 or whatever loco model when I spotted a fleeting glimpse in the window, three out of four of us looked around to spot a thing of beauty, some 'young lady' dressed in a white ballerina type tutu, white sussies, white stockings and white shoes heading into the club over the road, with a couple of rather large chaps escorting her. t'other lad was still going on about his firkin model loco - I can't remember the name of the club though.
In the same area, next street back towards Kendals, there was a pub (the white horse? could very well be wrong there) it had a door on to the street on the southish side and another onto the street on the northish side?

Donaldson's sports shop Gorton.
The Nelson, near the market in Openshaw, strippers at lunch time :)
Cookes sports shop. John Dalton Street.

The "Way Inn" Boutique. Third floor Kendals, Deansgate.

Fields where Makro is now in Irlam

Catching the 53 bus from Belle Vue to Maine Road to watch Johnny Crossan etc.
Belle Vue - was there at the TUC congress, 1968. My dad had got tickets as he was a union rep for the Ship canal company railway, took us to have a go at the fun fair and then the business bit where we all gathered to watch some bloke called Harold Wilson. I can't remember what he was going on about but it went down well with the chaps in the crowd.
Suggs sports shop at Merseyway in Stockport

Sports Motorcycles, Liverpool Road (Steve Wynne)

Paraffin lamps on the roadside in thick smog

Manchester United programme covers..Shirts Red/ Knickers White.

Fields before Hattersley estate was built.

Wrestling at Belle Vue Jackie (TV) Pallo/ Mick McManus

Sports Motors Plymouth Grove (Lotus dealers)

Godley's TV Shudehill

Mazel's Radio London Road, Piccadilly
New Cross Radio, loads of ex army electronic (valve) stuff
Cowan's bike shop Gorton

UCP Tripe shop Hyde

Fields where Wright Robinson school is now

Seeing George Best in his Lotus Europa and Franny in his pale blue XJ6
Geroge Best's boutique place, off Bridge street? not far from Kendals anyway
Paperchase Manchester

Saddleworth/Diggle railway stations

The Jester coffee shop Hyde

Bowers and Schofields sports shops Ashton u Lyne

The "Moon" Disco Dukinfield

The Black Cat cafe Hazel Grove

Paulden's department store
yup
Manchester Exchange railway station.
yup, again
Ashton and Stalybridge Baths

Booth Hall children's Hospital Rochdale Road

The Embassy Club with Bernard's Rolls Royce parked outside BJM 1
and again, Yup - I remember seeing the chap himself pulling up outside a newsagents in a cadillac or something and falling out of the door to collect his paper - not as far to walk
Programme shop on Lloyd street?, Moss Side

Sadly, only the rock left in Ardwick Green Park......:)

Any more memories?
Pub on Wernerth Low;
Vinegar Vera;
The Kettle Drum and the Bass Drum pubs;
The Packet House, Patricroft;
The Grapes, Patricroft (Holts);
Boddingtons Brewery (and the odour);
Hydes Brewery.

The ceiling in the police control room at Maine Road, someone had smacked his hand through the ceiling and another had written 'Goaaall!' around it with an indelible black marker pen, on reflection, that may have been created by a rag, bugger.

Tommy Ducks?

Henrys

The Music Exchange

Mamelocks closing down sale (must have been on for around twenty years)

A1 Music

yup, Stoneground

Those little alleyways that run from near Bootle Street to Saint Annes square and perhaps further on?

Sitting on the grass outside the Shambles before it was moved for the first time, never mind the second time (I must have been around 8 at the time).

11/9, outside Broadway Gate;

when I was younger, seeing the prows of ships right by the road, Salford (Manchester Docks);

1/9 container berth.

I can't really remember Pips that much but Placemates 7 also had a Bowie/Numan room.
