Manchester City are battling Arsenal for the signature of Fiorentina teenager Abdou Lahat Diakhate, sources for SiaS have been told.
The 16-year-old Senegalese midfielder is rated one of the hottest prospects at his club, who have already rebuffed advances from both of the Milan giants.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was alerted to the starlet late last year and has since been tracking his rapid progress with the Viola.
The Frenchman, however, is increasingly concerned by the presence of the Citizens in the clamour for Diakhate.
City have close relations with the Fiorentina board, having negotiated on Stefan Savic, Micah Richards and Stevan Jovetic in the last couple of seasons.
City want Diakhate to join their academy right away and are willing to pay a £1m release fee with future add-ons to win the race.
