Anyone ever been on one?

having a rough plan, need some advice though, where's best to go, how long for.

I want to see as much wildlife as possible and also see some hippos- the Mrs is hippo crazy.

Wouldn't mind having a bit of time on a beach as well and luxury, not just camping every night.

So yeah... any advice?

Check out Hippo Hollow in South Africa ... <a class="postlink" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.sleeping-out.co.za/ftp/Pictures/492-D-113440.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.sleeping-out.co.za/member_details-MemberID-492.html&usg=__JNEp2i5rAyiPfEPjZMVKLeX2hX8=&h=240&w=320&sz=15&hl=en&start=12&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=2rfdT1nnSpcViM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhippo%2Bhollow%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7GGLL_en-GB%26tbs%3Disch:1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h ... s%3Disch:1</a>

If she likes hippos she will love this place...me and the wife spent a couple of days there then flew down to Cape town for four days (another amazing place) then on to Mauritius for a week of paradise

we went with virgin travel where you can pick and mix what you want

Book into the Clifton Arms in St Annes. Then days out at Knowsley Safari Park, Chester Zoo & the South Lakes Wildlife Park. Job's a good 'un.

A few years ago my wife's boss went to Zimbawe (before all the real trouble) and stayed in a hotel in the bush.
The next day they were going out on a foot safari.
The guides got the five tourists together and briefed them on what and what not to do. They were told if a guide put his arm up they must stop. They must not talk and most importantly they must not run.
So off they go, guide in front of the tourists and a guide behind. They go through the gate from the hotel grounds and into the bush. After a brief walk of twenty yards or so, the guide at the front raised his arm, so they halted. The guide walked forward a few feet, took a look and then approached the rest of the group and said "run"
Duncan said "You told us under no circumstances to run"
The guide replied "I'm just fucking telling you, run"
So they did back to the gate, where they were told a couple of elephants were no more that ten yards from where they were

Went on one to Kenya last year.
Visited three parks, including the Masai mara, and then went to Mombasa for a week at the end.
Had a great time but not cheap.
Pm for more details if you want.

eeeeeeeee I can just see it now on safari, a few lions lying together surrounded by 12 VW campers with the windows open and arms hanging out with cameras clicking away, realy wild man.

Is this sarcasm? Maybe you'd rather go to Chester zoo where they're behind a cage.
