After-match reaction/fallout

the result tonight is inconsequential....we finished top of the group which was the aim

MH rested players.....No swp, dunne(ok he was back home due to his wife giving birth) , hart

others were injured.....benjani, sturridge, jo

others only got half a game or less.....ireland kompany

al the above would normally be 1st team starters in europe/ the premiership probably

there were a number of players who normally wouldnt get near to the starting 11....hamman, gelson TBH evans

and then there was vass!!!

the fringe players were shown to be what they are tonight....not good enough

hamman...fantastic brain on him but cannt cope anymore
vass.....utter waste of space. is no attacking threat whatsoever
TBH...ridiculous fouls, no pace, poor positioning...awful!
gelson...headless chicken
evans...will never be more than a league one striker.....

having those 5 in there weakens the team and its no suprise at all that result ended the way it did.

MH said he wanted to win the game.....but of course he is going to say that......But in reality he sent out a team that was desperately weak in a number of areas.....becaise he knew the result woudlnt matter....He experimented.....that was shown in his bringing on of caceido for his first appearance of the season (he has had the opportunity to use him before and hasnt because games were too important......this was of no importance at all)

people need to calm down....yes our league form has been poor, but it will improve and we will strengthen in January. Hopefully Boj and at least Jonno will be abck as well and that will help also.

as for those criticising elano.....he was the ONLY PLAYER in the first half trying to make things happen....on numerous occasions he picked the ball up in midfield, turning into space and looking up only to find either vass or evans STOOD STILL or in EVANS case at one point RUNNING TOWARS HIM therefore closing his own space down.....

yes he lost it in the second half but i dont blame him.....he is frustrated cause he wants to show what he can do and he cannt (due to poor form and also tonight the absolute shit that was infront of him.......form is temporary...class is permanent!)

on the tv yesterday in the airport he sai he wanted to win this game and he was playing a team to win this game

At was only inconsequential due to results elsewhere, assuming everything goes well(for Hughes), he has a bunch of money to spend and he spends it well, the fact that we are going to play a weaker team(on paper)in the next round is a HUGE deal because as it stands the 1st leg might be only 2 or 3 games into the new players careers at the club. The longer they get to play together the stronger they should get, right now the way this team is playing we need every break we can get.

The result was inconsequential yes, but the performance and application is always of the utmost importance. Thats why tonight is so hard to stomach. Simply not fucking good enough. The players and manager should offer to reimburse the money laid out by the loyal Blues who followed them out there.

Not fucking good enough.
