Alan Oakes

Mods please move to different thread or section if appropriate.

I was just thinking that a few players Kompany/Silva/Toure will have one seven major honours + 1 Charity Shield with us IF/when we win the league and that must be a record.

Alan Oakes has the record atm (I think) with 8 medals but that includes a Second tier Championship and 2 Charity Shileds.

What a carear he had for us btw. Am amazing servant.

Does he ever come to the games and get the VIP treatment like some of his teammates? Would be great if he was included in the trophy presentations IF (bugger it) WHEN we win the league.

That 1972 Charity Shield winners medal counts for even less than normal since we'd finished 4th in the league and beat Villa who were 3rd Division champions that year!?

Great player though and one of the stalwarts of the team when I was a boy.

I used to live about 100 metres away from Alan on London Rd in Davenham. Every so often on the weekend I'd be walking up to the newsagents to grab a paper and I'd see him and walk up with him. It was a surreal experience at first because he's such a City legend. Anyway, what a lovely guy he is and the most quiet and unassuming man you could ever meet. He tends to shy away from the limelight and football in general tbh. Loves his golf I believe. See his oldest lad in the Oddies ( not the ex Wolves keeper one) occasionally and he's a good lad..BUT A RAG!!
