Alex Grimaldo

Txiki will know everything there is too know about him.

From a Football Manager perspective then its a no brainer, clearly very talented, probably not strong enough as a LB but a LWB/LM/LW.

From what I know and have seen though we have plenty of talented players in those positions.

Will be interesting to see how he develops, he is very highly rated.

What's his FIFA stats like?
Lol I love how the lines between FIFA and the real world have blurred for some people over the last few years. It would be funny to see someone do a parody of a manager firing up FIFA to check on a player and then turning it off unimpressed or maybe players kicking off on the phone to EA about their stats.

He's a tiny little dude to think he can hold up at LB in the PL. I know you don't have to be a giant to play LB or RB, but lack of size can definitely hurt your ability in set pieces, etc.

Manchester City contact agent of Benfica left-back for details

The transfer window has barely shut and the rumour mill is already back in action, with a young left-back linked with Manchester City today.

If you had polled City supporters back in May, almost every one would have guessed that at least one new full-back would arrive in the summer transfer window. However, Pep Guardiola chose to focus on other positions during a massive summer outlay.

Despite being content with Kolarov, Clichy, Sagna and Zabaleta, all of whom have found themselves in unconventional roles already this season, the fact remains that all four are over 30 and won’t last forever. Guardiola has two bright young prospects in the form of left-back Angeliño and right-back Pablo Maffeo, but City scouts are also keeping an eye out for possible signings in these areas.

Tipped to make the breakthough at Barcelona, many Culés were angry when talented left-back Alejandro “Álex” Grimaldo was allowed to leave for Benfica in January 2016. The 20-year-old has represented Spain at every youth level and possesses great ability, which he has already shown at the Portuguese giants.

According to today’s edition of O Jogo, Txiki Begiristain and Pep Guardiola are fully aware of the La Masia graduate’s progress and City chiefs have recently been in contact with his agent, Amadeo Rengel, to find out his contractual details.

Grimaldo’s form has him hopeful of a call-up to Julen Lopetegui’s Spain squad, but could he find himself in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad in a year’s time? City have a definite interest, according to the Portuguese publication, and scouts are likely to monitor him this season ahead of a possible approach for the Valencia-born left-back next summer.
