Alexis Sanchez

Interesting stat, but doesn't convince me of much. Aguero creates *so* many chances, with his movement, first touch and close control.

Personally I'd rather have a player like Aguero who creates 100 chances and gets 20 goals rather than another player who creates 60 and gets the same 20 goals. The latter may be more efficient, but the former keeps the opposition under more pressure for more of the game.

Aguero had less than one shots per game more than Sanchez last season but scored less goals and in the chances created for others stakes, Sanchez was way ahead. Sanchez also made more dribbles and tackles than Aguero.

The fact is that last season, Sanchez was more productive and more of a threat than Aguero. That's why Pep wants him.

I remain unconvinced. Aguero still has the highest goals per minute ratio in PL history does he not.

I am not saying Sanchez is no good, nor that Pep does not want him. But I do not regard him as an upgrade on Sergio in any shape or form.

We need another quality striker that can be eased in( as well as Jesus) that we can gradually ease in and replace Aguero with. If his decline turns out to be terminal we could be in trouble, if we're not already there.
If the plan is to replace Aguero eventually, I don't see the point of signing Sanchez then. He is about the same age as Aguero and by next year, he could easily be on the decline as well.

That's true and I think that'll happen next summer. However we need someone to come and make an impact straight away, Sanchez would be ideal for that. Looking in the longer term, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have Jesus and another up and coming quality striker as the future, playing with, rotating with and learning from 2 players of the stature of Aguero and Sanchez.

As far as I am aware, Sergio does still hold that record but the issue is whether or not his effectiveness is declining? His conversion rate dropped markedly last season; it could be a blip, it could be a trend. All in all, he was not as effective as Sanchez last season, whether that convinces you of anything is entirely up to you.

Aguero's replacement for the future is Jesus (20). Alexis is more an upgrade from Sané(21)/Sterling(22) and an alternative in times of injury
If we play with two Forwards they should be Aguero (full CF) and Alexis (good in small spaces, good free kick, good passes between lines, creativity, better ball recovery and good definition).
