Almeria Coast

Will check that out as the wife is finally feeling fit enough for a holiday. What are the streets like for walking around in Nerja? Wife needs flat and not to crowded to be able to walk them. Also beach access, loads of steps down or windy hillside access is a no no.

Streets aren’t too hilly but in peak season they are VERY busy and quite narrow. Also you often have to take steps down to and up from the beaches.

Roquetas is a lot flatter so may be a better option.

Either way have a great time

Nerja isn't on the Costa Almeria. It' on the Costa del Sol. There are some great small quiet beach villages in Almeria. Very chilled out and plenty of beaches and coves where you are virtually alone.

Thanks mac, will have another look before making final decision

A few resorts. San Juan de los Terrenos ,great long beach. Small resort very Spanish. Safe bathing. Mojacar. Low rise and spread out..beach isn' very safe. Chilled out but gets busy on summer. Agua Amargh small beautiful village and beach. Very spanish. Loads of coves nearby. San Jose. Small Spanish town. In a natural park. Loads of quiet beaches. Roquetas is a large place with thousands of acres of plastic greenhouses on the outskirts. Loads of bars etc but still got a good family feel. Also on the Costa Granada there are lots of very Spanish resorts . To me there 2 costas are laid back and don' get as many tourists but will get packed in August with more Spanish holidaymakers. Any more info . No probs

La Herradura, near Nerja, was a lovely place and well located for trips to many places of interest.
. Seconded. The beach is gritty/ with pebbles but that makes it great for snorkeling. The bars are good and you have the marina and Almunecar over the hill with water park, fun fair etc. Typical Spanish resort. Also a great place to explore the Nevada and other coastal towns in Granada.

Looking like Nerja for us. Thanks to all for the tips ;-)
Been to Nerja quite a few times , love it . There's some great tapas bars ( €1-60 wine & free tapas) . Give me a pm if you need any suggestions. Enjoy
