Just had my 2004 skoda Octavia in for the MOT and failed due to worn steering column & worn front brake pads.
Anyone able to give me a rough guide as to how much these should cost to get fixed?

Im not a tools man but i do work in car parts and the brake pads will be cheap enough mate but the steering column not so and will be a couple of hundred at least and thats the trade price before the garage loads it up to RRP and they whack labour on.

Get a second opinion if you can mate before getting quotes and the work done.
