Trying to update from 13.2 to Leap 42.1, then .2 etc but zypper refresh is failing. The forums telling me its risky to update to Leap unless my current version is up to date but I think it's failing because they have removed the update packages/repositories.

Help!

Check your update is enabled "zypper repos --uri" add it if it is not there with...

zypper addrepo --check --refresh --name 'openSUSE-(your version number here)-Update' (paste the url you need here for your update package)

Now just sudo zypper refresh then update :-)

Edit: backup important data before doing this upgrade.

You can reference this site to bud it is pretty useful. https://www.unixmen.com/how-to-upgrade-to-opensuse-42-1-from-opensuse-13-2/

Thanks Guy,

The update is there but the url is download.opensuse.org/update/13.2 which is no longer available when you browse to it.

I would assume then the repo is temp down or it has been moved to another dir matey, maybe tagged "discontinued" or similar. Sometimes stuff is moved to debug dirs to.

If you want to make sure all updates are there before going to 42.1 i suggest grabbing the .iso and running it from that to update boss. This has the benefit of having a system cleaner to get rid of old packages etc that the online update method does not have. If you cba with that just add the new repo url with the command "zypper addrepo --check --refresh --name 'openSUSE-(your version number here)-Update' (paste the new url you need here for your update package)"

It is well advised to take a snapshot/back it all up though first ofc.
