every now and again a cd i'm transferring to the i pod won't transfer,why ?

Not sure what you mean but mine sometimes appears to transfer, the songs/album exist in the list, but the songs wont play and havent actually transferred beyond the names etc.
If that's the case just delete the empty files from your ipod and wack the tunes on again and it should be ok.
Itunes goes a bit wanky sometimes for no reason.

Luckily, for you, it happened to me just a few nights back so it was fresh in my memory.
It's only happened to me twice in the past year, what I tend to do now is as I'm uploading an album I quickly check the song has actually imported to the ipod by clicking on it to see if the album cover appears in the bottom left. If it's there then it's on.
