EDIT: heres the article too

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.espnfc.com/story/2242050/manchester-united-chelsea-tottenham-want-manchester-city-starlet-ashinme-kigbu-sources" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.espnfc.com/story/2242050/man ... bu-sources</a>

Manchester City are battling to keep hold of starlet Ashinme Kigbu amid interest from Premier League rivals, sources have told ESPN FC.

Teenage sensation Kigbu is attracting the interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham as they look to lure the 15-year-old away from the Etihad Stadium.

Kigbu is regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the country after impressing for City's youth sides, and most of the Premier League's big sides are monitoring his situation with the title holders.

The defender, who turns 16 next month, started out at Manchester United's academy before deciding to leave to focus on his education.

However, after catching the eye of City scouts while playing for Manchester Boys club, he joined City in 2012 and is highly regarded within the corridors of power at the Etihad.

City have yet to secure Kigbu on a scholarship deal and the player's father Vincent Kigbu has revealed he has been contacted by a number of clubs about his son, but that the teenager is in no rush to make a decision on his long-term future.

Never heard of him but for the U16s and below that's not unusual.
Neither unfortunately is the fact that that his father is talking him up in the press trying to get a scholarship and/or money sadly.

Neville Kneville said:
There is another line missing from that version, where his dad actually says he's happy where he is, but has yet to be offered a contract by City.

So it's not really a case of anyone snatching anything at this stage. We haven't offered him anything yet.
Well spotted.

"Ashinme is very happy at City, but they have yet to offer him a scholarship or pro deal as yet. It is flattering that other clubs are interested in Ashinme."

Don't you have to be 16+ to get a scholarship?

Unless under exceptional circumstances, I'm pretty sure MCFC will only offer to them at the end of the U16 season.

I know of one player (more his dad) who wanted a contract offered before the end of the season, but City wouldn't budge. He was captain of the U16 team containing the likes of Micah Richards.

We stuck to our guns, and so did he. He should've been patient as he would've probably got one anyway, but ended up leaving due to a fall out. His loss, as he didn't make it anywhere else after.

Wow woops, did not see that part at all - my mistake! Great to hear he is happy, hopefully we can keep him if he is one of the top talents!

Scholarships are generally offered in the 1st couple of weeks of January and the U16s they don't want to retain conversely are told at the same time and are generally helped to find a new club - so barring very unusual circumstances we will have offered a 2 or 3 year scholarship to him by now. But the very talented players don't complete the scholarship deals as they are signed on a pro deal the moment they turn 17(the earliest allowed in England). If any U16s that have been offered a scholarship do not want to sign for City a compensation package with his new club has to be agreed mutually or by tribunal with the new EPPP guidlines to determine the compensation.

He's now turned 16 according to this, which just popped up on newsnow.
