Barkley / Targets Review

With the talk of big money for sterling; it got me thinking about Barkley, last year and whether we are still interested.

Barkley had one good year, and it was clear we wanted him. You would have to ask someone 'ITK' what our price was; and we probably had it right if we said 'no chance' at c. £30m.

He has had a crap year, does that mean we don't want him anymore?

Sterling has had two good years, established himself for England so arguably more proven, but I'd just be interested in how 'long term' our targets are and how influenced we are by short term form changes.

Crap year in a crap team which had a crap schedule this season.
Ross Barkley is a raw talent that would flourish playing with our players.
Rotated or not this guy is a must replacement for lampard IMO.
£30m for possibly the best english midfielder of the next generation.

possibly agree but not a chance hes worth 30m after 1 good season and 1 shit one. Hes been booed in a poor everton team that's finished bottom half. We should test them with a bid around £16-20m

Yea, Eriksen is a beast... he teared us a new asshole in that away match when he played for Ajax.
Just needs to be around a better system/players.

Barkley would be much cheaper than Sterling, although we just let Sterling rot another year at Klanfield and get him for free :D

Strange how peoples perception of players if different depending on who you support.......many Spuds fans around here and they would all say "nobody in their right minds would want to buy Eriksen" they describe him as some discribed AJ for us...'MOTD player' , couple of highlights looks great but does absolutely nothing for 89mins of any game...........yet they laugh about us losing YAYA as they say he's class and they'd have him in a heartbeat....yet read our YAYA thread and it's full of has been/lazy/can fuck off etc
