Why ?

We were discussing academy players on the academy forum.

Have some of you a problem that this lad is getting some well deserved recognition for his achievement in his own thread??

Maybe the mods feel it should be discussed in one place rather than three lol

Not bothered myself

I'm confused now, are we discussing Celina on here or elsewhere?

Pleased for the lad anyway.

There’s a big day ahead for one of the Club’s brightest Academy prospects…

18-year old starlet Bersant Celina could potentially make his senior debut for City in the FA Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

After impressing for City in the UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup, the exciting winger/forward has been named on the bench by Manuel Pellegrini for Sunday's game.

With an eye for a spectacular finish, as well as fleet feet and electric pace, Bersant has already enjoyed a rapid ascent through the age-groups, both at City and on the international stage.

Called up as a 17-year old for Kosovo’s first-ever official friendly match against Haiti in March, Celina had already represented Norway’s youth sides at u15, u16 and u17 level.

Born in Kosovo, he moved to Drammen in Oslo when he was two years-old.

Despite only starting one of City’s six UEFA Youth League group stage games, Bersant weighed in with four goals from his 222 minutes on the pitch – an impressive strike rate of a goal every 55.5 minutes.

That tally included this stunning strike against AS Roma in the final group game which helped to cap off a perfect six wins from six so far in the competition for Patrick Vieira’s side.

He also scooped the Academy Goal of the Season last year for a Yaya Toure-esque curler against Liverpool which helped Jason Wilcox’s team towards the Barclays u18 Northern Premier League crown.

This season, Celina has scored seven goals in his 12 appearances in all competitions for the under-18s and has netted five in eight games for the Elite Development Squad (U21s).
