Bring Photo ID with Ticket?

Bought a print-it-yourself ticket for Bournemouth from the club on my season ticket.
Notice that the ticket, for my friend, says 'you must bring photo ID with this ticket'.
Surely you just scan the barcode & go through??
Anyone had any problems?

Its on all the tickets but no one ever asks unless they're unsure about your age ie ticket is for a child but youre obviously not. its a legal requirement so that they can ask if they want to.

No, i bought print-it-yourself tickets for some Cologne fans, who were coming over for the Arsenal and West Ham games. I was a tad concerned because my Season Ticket was in a different part of the ground, and City's notification to my mobile wouldn't have served much purpose.
However, they didn't have any problems.
