To answer the question, as I see it, as the world's 5th biggest economy and a country that has huge trade with EU countries then they will bend over backwards, and certainly for the next year or so little will change. As others have stated we will become members of EFTA just as before we joined EEC, this gives rights to citizens of member countries to work without permits in other members states, which will include the EU. The difference being is,we can control this, rather that it being an absolute right for them to settle here regardless, as it was before
When you say we can control this rather than it being a right, what do you mean? Have you an example? Do you men that there would be restrictions in extreme circumstances?
