Didn't find a thread at all for him, so... Sorry for copy pasting content from the Yaw Yeboah thread...

One of the better players of the U17 side that brought us Kelechi Iheanacho.

Had a pretty good half-season for IK Start with 2 goals and 2 assists in 13 games as a box-to-box midfielder. From what I have seen from him he' s a player in the mold of Ngolo Kante.

Reports would suggest Guardiola actually blocked a loan deal for Nwakali:
Celtic wanted to sign Chidiebere last week, but the club gave them a negative response,” said Allwell Nwakali (Chidi's older brother).

“The only thing stopping Chidiebere from playing for the Manchester City first team is work permit. Manchester City have plans for him because he was here (in Nigeria) for just a week and they called him back but in the end, they will be the ones to decide where he plays.”

All this indicates to one of two things:
1. Guardiola wants to give all the youth players a proper look in (not just a glance, but a proper look) before he makes any further decisions;
2. Guardiola has pre-selected a group of youth and intends to give them a proper look in.
Lets not get overboard with the first team claims, but I think this is still big, as it suggests that Pep will treat the academy as something more than a loan factory. Which is a very welcome development. It could save City loads of money or let them go crazy on a few select players.

If there is one thing I truely admire him for is his approach to youth players. He really gives them a chance. And in all honesty there are only a few players in our current squad that can't be upstaged by talented youth: Aguero - albeit even him has Iheanacho as stark competition; de Bruyne; for the timebeing Otamendi; Silva; possibly Fernadinho and Gundogan. The rest I could see easily replaced by talented youngsters, if given the chance. Tottenham gave youth a chance and they finished second in the league.

On a side note Nwakali's younger brother Kelechi just joined Arsenal, apparently received the no 25 shirt (formerly Kanu's) and is supposed to be a first team player. That said he is the more talented of the brothers.

I thought he looked a good prospect in that team with Kelechi. Not the same level of genius, but talented quick & determined. I thought that kid Spurs signed also looked a real talent. Surprised we haven't heard anything from him.

Musa Yahaya. He only just turned 18 last December.
Signed for FC Porto after doing very well on loan from Tottenham in the second Portuguese tier.

Meanwhile:
Chidi wants to join Iheanacho at the Olympics. Would be good for both him and us. (Interesting also to know that he won 3 MOTM in 11 starts in Norway).

Yeah that was him. If he's at Porto we'll probably sign him for 50 mil in a few years.

These http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/06/29/man-city-omits-nwakali-from-pre-season-training-tour/ reports have rather turned to be true as Chidiebere played for the Norwegian outfit on saturday and got another assist.

His contract runs out next summer so it is quite cheeky this situation. I'd rather us keep him there to make progress than doing it so he would be able to make a stable name for himself anywhere else and leave. Hope Pep's words on desire won't be just words.

Apparently that was his 5th MOTM performance in 14 games.

F%&^ me!!!

Watch the highlights from yesterday's game vs Molde.

Nwakali with two splendid assists:
First one he wins the ball twice in one fluid move, dribbles it into the penalty area, then squares off the ball for basically a tap-in without even looking.
Second one is a counterattack, Nwakali get a ball off a corner, runs half the field then does a perfect through ball between two defenders for a one-on-one and a goal.

He also had one great play, where he won the ball, dribbled through two players and then made a through ball pass between three players to create a one-on-one opportunity, only for the striker to mess up a one of one.

Honestly... Haven't seen such a talented box-to-box midfielder since Essien. But Essien's passing was never this good.

Sure... maybe a lucky game... but I've seen a few highlights and he seems the real deal. 6 MOTM performances in 16 games for the youngster...

You guys and the club really need to take more interest in Nwakali. He may just turn out to be you best on-loan player.

Appreciate the update, Jon, glad he is doing well.

We should not get carried away however, we once had a Ghanaian central midfielder called Mohammed Abu - he won Stromgodset player of the season two years in a row.

He's still there now, after never really pushing on.

Hopefully Chidi can push on and get noticed by the club.

And the crowd goes wild! :-)

(Always funny when there's a handful of supporters. It's like parents at a kids training session)

The worrying thing is that IK Start have yet to win a game all season. Havent' watched a full game for IK Start and given Chidi is nominally the DM the amount of goals the team is shipping is a bit worrying.

Have watched like 8-9 videos though and it seems that anything good attackingwise connected with IK Start almost always starts from him.

Don't know Mohammed Abu, but apart from Iheanacho I always thought Chidi Nwakali was the other must buy player from the team.
