If they're both 25, its hard to see how either could have been there "10 years longer", but if so then City should probably be done for employing child labour.

Ok. Change it to 6 years. Point remains.

If they are both 25, both bring the same qualifications, skills and experience to the job and are performing at the same level then you may have a point. But how often do those stars align.
 
Why not? He might serve 20 tickets an hour to her 10 (or vice versa). He may have been there 10 years longer (or vice versa).

I fail to see where tenure, experience and performance are reviewed as part of the gender pay gap debate. That’s not to mention many other variables.

I’ve never understood this and the argument never gets put forward. Just Because people have the same job title does not mean they do the same job.
