Delph and Fernando in defence?

Why not I suppose. If there's no interest from clubs willing to take them off our hands it's prudent to see if their skill set can be utilised somewhere.

Humphreys and Tosin are the only CB's in training at the moment aren't they?

VK injured, Mangala and Otamendi are both still on post-tournament holiday.

Someone has to play there in training.
 
This almost certainly stems from the Mirror browsing the comments section in this video and then noticing this frame and jumping to that conclusion too. It's probably true, but it can't be based on anything more than a fan could deduce from the bit at 1min here where all the defenders are stood with Pep, plus those two.

 
Prefer seeing Fernando at CDM, his job is to sit in front of and protect the back line while occasionally going forward. It's very specialised and he's very good at it.

Delph at LB could work, considering he's played both at LM and CB before, and besides, he's now our 5th choice CM while we're trying to promote youth at the same time.

Could see Delph as a back up left back to Clichy (assuming Kolarov leaves), but Fernando would presumably be about sixth in line to play centre half.

Oooh I'm not so sure about that one square pegs and round holes. But Pep has proven so many people wrong in his time with certain players playing in different positions
