Bullshit!

He played 4-2-3-1 at Malaga and i'm convinced it'll be more beneficial for us to play this system?

Ok clam down ;) why isn't he playing it then?

The makeup of squad coming into the season included 3 frontline strikers with Jovetic as the 4th. If the intention was to play with a lone striker then we would not have made provision for 4 strikers. Logically the only answer is that we intended to play this season with 2 strikers in a 442 system. The fact that bar 1 game we have played with 2 strikers in a 442 system (or 4222 or whatever) does rather bear this out.

I do recall that prior to the season started those that knew everything there was to know about Pellers were confident that it would be a lone striker job and possibly in a 433 formation which only goes to show there is nothing certain in life except death, taxes and at some point looking like a total tit on Bluemoon.

It still doesn't make it right?

I said prior to the game (can't be bothered to copy and paste it) that if we don't play 4-2-3-1 against Southampton we'll get done and it was nearly the case.

I'm baffled that MP didn't do his homework and start with that formation, i'm no tactical genius but it was clear as day it was required with the way Southampton play, we played in to their hands

navas silva ferd yya nasri

not in that formation and you could swap navas for milner or nasri (though he has been playing very well and doesnt deserve dropping...plus when jovetic is fit he can play in the hole behind the main striker....maybe this would allow amore solid formation in midfiedl without stopping our attacking flow????

I'm sorry but Milner is wasted out wide. The game bypassed him yesterday and he is better than that.

Exeter Blue wrote a thoughtful and well considered post, one which I wholeheartedly agreed with. It is not acceptable that a two bit moron can retort with throwaway jibes and insults as per;

I thought this was a place for discussion and debate?

I recognise the irony in calling Blue Life a two bit moron, but when all you can contribute is such a mindless comment in response to a thoughtful and considered one, then what else are you?

Really frustrates me. This is a place for discussion and debate, when people are contributing in that manner, it isn't acceptable for someone to drag the thread into the abyss if they're incapable of articulating their disagreement.

Listen up. The only one being moronic is you. If you had the remotest observational ability, you might know that I know Exeter, indeed we exchanged views in person at the game yesterday. And I can assure you that he is the first to admit to being a worrier and would have taken my light hearted quip in the spirit that it was intended. Anyone who has spent any time in this thread knows that I hold my friends views in high regard so why don't you mind your own business.

Sorry, I took your comment as a lighthearted response to someone dismissing a good post with a few insults, thereby not discouraging such posts. I missed the fact that you know EB personally, and in that context your response makes sense.

My ire was largely reserved for Blue Life. Surely you see my point in that respect?

No need to take my comment so personally.

When I see two bit moron after a quote of my post, I tend to think the worst!

Anyway, now we have cleared that up, kt is the season of goodwill to all men :)

It's a crazy one isn't it? Seems so bloody obvious and I don't get what MP is trying to prove. We can still be an awesome attacking machine, even with only 1 up top.

Well we do. Gareth Barry. And yes I am aware that Gaz had his own nightmare last season at Southampton but he is still a better option than Garcia. That Pellers doesn't have the Barry option is down to Txiki but irrespective of who moved Barry on and why I do think Barry on the bench to steady the ship when needed would have been advantageous this season.

I agree, but I can't help but suspect that Barry is at Everton because he wanted to play regular first team football in a World Cup year, not be a specialist on our bench who is deployed when we have a need. Fernandinho was brought in to take the vast majority of Barry's minutes, so I think we did the player a favor and loaned him to Everton. I see no reason to think we shipped him out because we didn't rate him, I just think he would have been unhappy in the role we had left for him.

Barry himself stated he would have preferred to stay at City and fight for his place even if it meant time on the bench. So no we didn't rate him. Or to be accurate we wanted his wages off the books. I know some people claim we are still paying his wages but I have also read that we are not paying most or any of his wages. To be honest I don't know which is correct but I do believe that the reason for moving him on was primarily a financial one. Just my view.

Barry would've made no difference yesterday whatsoever, he can't play against teams that press high up the pitch, hence the reason he had a shocker last season.

He's great when he's got time but pressure him and he's non effective

im not saying milner out wide....i said that would be the players but not necessarily the formation////i was merely listing the players who would be in the 5 man midfield...milner is a strange one for me...he aint a winger and im nto sure he has the class to play centrally for us but his work rate and application is fantastic and we do need that at the moment....however i think his days at city maybe coming to the end

Ha, no worries mate. I don't blame you.

I think Blue Life was due some flak though, I don't think it's acceptable to respond to thoughtful and considered comments like that.

I hope you realise that was my initial and primary point.
