After conceding a silly penalty and going 2-1 down with 15 minutes left, we should have shut up shop and taken the 2-1 defeat back to COMS. (job well done)
But no, we kept on bombing forward from every postion(esp Richards) leaving ourselfs wide open and exposed to the counter attack once our move's broke down. This ultimately cost us the 3rd goal

Watching the last 15 minutes was a joke. We played right into Hamburgs hands. Numerous attacks breaking down, leaving half the team in the Hamburg half and the other half trying to defend against countless Hamburg counter attacks. Anyone watching would have thought we were the home team.

We/Hughes should have shut up shop with 15 minutes to go and played on the counter. He should have put 5 across the middle, with new and specific instructions to hold the ball, knock it about and waste as much time as possible.

Like most people I've watched numerous European matches down the years and great teams either get a great away result or when the going gets tuff they shut up shop knowing the secong leg is to come.

Now we have the opposite situation were we have to attack Hamburg from the start. They will shut up shop at somepoint, hold on to the ball, waste time and eventually, if and when, attack on the break. That's what we should have done for the final 15 minutes last night.

We obviously didn't learn from the last round.

We haven't got the defensive ability to shut up shop.

You have with 10 men behind the ball. Leave our back four or three and Zab isolated, then your asking to concede another goal. Which happened. We should have put 10 men behind the ball, kept it, knocked it about, wasted time, pissed the Hamburg team and their fans off and come away with a 2-1 defeat.
