Dog names...

I was working in Roscommon and an old farmer had a litter of pups he wanted homes for( before he "put them Swimmin'")
Me being a softie and all took one and named him Rosco.
My wife seen a postcard Ad in Tesco for kittens and her being a big softie took one in and named her Tess.
So something related to the Pups circumstances can usually give you ideas.

Sweep. There is a presedence for it a la sooty and sweep
*Was sweep a dog*
This gives you a city reference, while you tell the wife it's named after sooty's friend
