Downloading software for a mac

Just got myself a mac ready to go back to uni. Can someone recommend me where to find some software.

Is it possible to get the likes of indesign and illustrator via limewire or something similar?

I really need this software but don't have thousands to blow.

Oh and what can I use to unzip files? Obviously I cant use winrar so is there a smilar program?

google "rar expander" for a mac version of winrar, it's free.
