EDS v Derby 25/01 (moved to the A.J.Bell stadium)

Yeah the u18's are a step up from the eds which just seems sometimes to be a put together ragtag (apologies for the use of rag) team with an uninspiring coach.

Looking forward to tonight, think with the dithering on Tosin that apart from Garcia our breakthrough players will come from the u18's, mind you we've been saying the breakthrough is coming for too many years already.

Davies would be able to field a decent team if he had some of the loanees available, but development is the name of the game!

The U18s are an exciting part of the club along with the U15s. Just hope I haven't laid the 'kiss of death' on them for tonight!

As we get better players in the 1st team squad the gap between eds and the 1st team gets bigger. The time has gone when a player who hasnt got masses of talent walks into our first team. most will have to prove themselves out on loan if at all 1st.

I don't think the gap is bigger, it's been a huge gap for many many years. It's just that very few of the players get any opportunity to find their feet at first team level, at City. And imo, pretty much all our kids have 'masses of talent'. The difficulty is adapting it to play senior football. We are totally failling, as a club, to turn talented young players into talented adults.
