Eliaquim Mangala

Real Madrid paid around £26million for Pepe from the exact same club at pretty much the exact same age in 2007, so it isn't unheard of. There's no way we'd pay £38million for a defender, but if he was cheaper... maybe. But Porto aren't really like that... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/8792281/

I reckon £20-£24m + Garcia would tempt them. Although people might not rate Garcia at City, he's actually quite proven in Portugal.

Chances that he could fill in in holding midfield? Think we're light in terms of Champions League quality players there. Watched him twice in Champions League last year and he seemed to be good on the ball?

So did Garcia

"Not sure about City signing Mangala. Marca reporting that they have already signed Demichelis from Atletico Madrid, presumably as cover for Kompany," writes Jabe Sands. The Guardian's transfer news latest blog understands (to borrow the phrase that really means 'read on Twitter') that the Mangala deal would be on top of the Demichelis one. Understands, you understand, is the get out clause in case this all turns out to be nonsense.

not worth beyond £15m, good potential but questions over his defensive positioning. I'd have him over Demichelis purely for longevity and potential.

we are supposed to be looking to win the epl and the cl, we need to improve our defense to do that. I would think we will buy both.
Also, is Bale 3 times the player Silva is? What has been paid in the past has some relevance, but it almost brings me to tears when we discuss quality players other than Mangala and state its okay for whats is essentially a dead man walking (RM, or staring into the abyss from a finance point of view), in RM, to try put together another on the drip transfer, for over £80 million, but its foolish for us to look at putting a similar deal together to help us build the team we need? I would say we have looked at Thiago Silva & Pepe. One would have been almost a marquee signing. The other would be someone at least as good as Vinnie. We cannot go forward an expect to challenge with the defensive options we have, as Cardiff showed on Sunday. They are *fucking up again, if we go ahead as bare as we are.
