Could they have mistaken the bid to be £ when it's actually €? Marquinhos went for 38m€ this summer and had only 1 season with Roma's 1st team so that would make more sense than 38m£.
 
Big money for a defender coming from Portugal.

Would we really pay that much for back up? You would want him playing every week for that money.

What side of defence does he play on?

villa were set to sign porto defender ba but after a late bid for mangala porto want him to stay because it will leave them short of cover.
