Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

I am in the process of interviewing a bloke in my line of work, who has just had an induction at the Campus. He is high up in his position and is involved in the drainage system and says that City will have different grasses on the training pitches to replicate different clubs turf. I jokingly asked if they could replicate The Swamp, and he said they will have the technology to even do that and have it repaired in a matter of a couple of weeks.

Again this information makes me realize how far we have come!

There isn't enough sh1t to replicate the swamp.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Drove past the stadium this morning and got to thinking about just how big the collar site is. At the moment its being used as a Car Park on matchdays and it got me wondering about how the Club would replace these parking spaces once they start developing it. There is probably some room on the North Car Park to take up some of the slack. Then I remembered they are building additional parking space on the Academy site. So, if the Collar site developments were dependent on more parking becoming available, and that availability is ready by Summer 2014 then its possible that we could see work on the Collar site first half of next year. Hopefully we might see some Planning documents before year end.

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

For those questioning 85,000 due to the configuration of the Colin Bell and East Stand....

When those stands are developed (late 2010's/2020's) they will remove the roof and dismantle the current third tier. The spirals will be reduced to rubble and a new ultra third tier will be created. The exteror of these 'new' stands will then link in with the design of the new North and South Stands, with lifts and escalators included for movement into gods. At the end of the development, we will pretty much have a new stadium with only the original lower two tiers remaining from the original design. With the East Stand redevelopment linked in with the casino site as well, it will mean that from the outside, the Etihad won't even look like the same place. The end result will be an iconic, world recognised venue.

I'd love it if this happened, but I'm obviously sceptical. Do you have any sources you could provide to validate this?

Re: Etihad Campus & potential new stadium

Anyone know if the new stadium wifi system is going to be ready for the start of the season?

Wouldn't multi-storey car parks solve this issue? If they are looking to maximise their land utilisation I'd imagine that would be the route they would take.

Might take about a week to get out though!

If it was me, I'd put up some big car park in Droylsden or Ashton-under-Lyne and try and get people to use the tram as a park and ride type thing.
