Everton discussion 2016/17

i really liked martinez initially and he had a great first season but then it went downhill and you could see what his faults were-defensively his teams were clueless. koeman has started off well and am pleased so far but in retrospect we have played teams we should be expected to beat. tougher tests await and lukaku apart it's hard to see where goals will come from, so key to our season could lie in both retaining him as a player and keeping him fit.

This is the main point that my ERO oft said after a reverse. The number of games that EFC should have won under Martinez but didn't tells you everything about how limited he was as a manager. My lad always thought that sooner or later he would do with EFC what he had done at Wigan - win a cup and get relegated. Koeman is altogether far more organised. He may well waterproof the defence but his attacking options seem to be in the Lukaku basket.

Shit, it's the FA Cup this weekend. Perhaps we shouldn't try too hard.

They could be without Bolasie for up to a year with his knee injury, according to Koeman;

You'd have to fear for the lad if the injury is that serious and long term.

He is an exciting player, a serious loss as he was building a great partnership with Lulu. The knee must be shattered and their waiting on parts of the knee to re-grow which takes lots of time.

wish him a speedy recovery

Some interesting stories about their ownership and finances appearing recently. There's accusations that former BHS owner Philip Green (or Sir Shifty as The Fail calls him) is really the owner of Everton, along with Usmanov who owns 30% of Arsenal. USM Holdings (Usmanov's company) has just been announced as their new training ground sponsor.
