He didn't gain an advantage. He took the escape route otherwise him & Kimi would have took each other out. He then let Kimi pass him & then took 1st place back off him. He did nothing wrong!

He out braked himself but taking the escape road allowed him to keep his momentum. If he avoided hitting Raikonnen and kept to the track instead of taking the escape road he would have been several seconds behind and therefore nowhere near close enough to pass.
