FA old farts

The power is with the Board, not any one person, even the CEO. The Board are mainly old, white and middle class. They represent no-one and weren't elected and are on permanent terms, never having to seek re-election. If we want change, this is a good first step but it's what comes out of it that will matter.

Perhaps the FA has their nose out of joint because they can't wield any real power to change things in the Premier league. They would like to have eight English players in the squads to enlarge the pool for selectors to choose from. They see this as the way to make players improve the England performances. We all know that this is bollocks, as do the Premier League and so, any attempt to make serious changes that will damage the financial gains being made will be given short shrift by them and resulting in the Premier league telling them to piss off. Money is God.....my opinion anyway. :)

Listening to Bernstein today, it sounded like he very much did try to change it, but simply couldn't, because the non elected weren't interested, and they basically forced him out as he was just the figure head at the time.

To show just how out of touch those actually running the FA are from real life, this is another "FA" story from today....

Good on these girls for responding to this FA "initiative".

The FA are a shameless bunch of old farts, who are practically powerless in the modern game. In fact, the only real power they have is the power to protect their own jobs; for now anyway.

The real power in football is the Premier League.

(Old news, but still relevant)

Premier League Executive chairman Richard Scudamore says the Premier League has a "strategic plan" to enable more clubs to win the title.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ from the Premier League launch in Islington, north London, he said: "Without being disrespectful to any club, we have a strategic plan at the Premier League and the strategic plan says putting a new name on the trophy in every six-year period".

So, just how the f**k are they going to implement their strategic plan? PGMOL?

But that's not what he's saying. He's saying that footballs governing body should, in some way, be reflective of the people who play the game. On that board (of 115 people) you might expect more than 4 women and 5 none white people, as well as a much younger average age. It doesn't read that white people are thick and should be usurped due to their skin colour, just that the board should have a bit more diversity about it.

Radio 5 live did the 9am phone in. It was headlined 'Old White men of the FA'. By caller number two the theme had changed to 'attack the Premier League'. Very rarely did it go back to the FA and what the original article was about, it was just centred on too much money in th PL, over paid foriegn players stopping british kids etc etc.

Now call me cynical but it was as if the BBC were deliberately moving the debate away from the FA, kind of protecting the corrupt hand that feeds you?

The BBC have a definite football agenda at the corporate level. Not entirely sure why though. I does smell like corruption though.

So by the same criteria you should have a problem that the cricket team has 4 muslims or 90% plus of prison inmates are men?
