Elkie Brookes - real name Elaine Bookbinder, cousin of Susan Bookbinder a nd John, who was in City's 1986 youth cup team.
One of Elkie's brothers was in the Dakotas and another ran Bookbinder's club opposite Chorlton Street Bus Station

Saw the brilliant Elkie, along with the equally brilliant Robert Palmer, performing as Vinegar Joe in the late sixties at some dingy club in London.
They were supporting Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and were fucking outstanding, one of the best bands I've ever seen.
