Only just dawned on me that we got slagged off for paying £34M for the guy 4 seasons ago, and even now at 31 he still looks as good (if not better) than when we first bought him.

The point I was making is that we've shut those people up! £30M or £34M he's worth every penny.

The only positive I can take if we don't renew his contract, is we know he's not going to another top PL club as he's so underrated no one would take the punt. However, we better get him extending for a few years! Quality player.

I don't know, I could see someone like Everton taking him. Barry's done well there in a similar role and will need replacing soon.
