He worked his nuts off and tired 2nd half,he had to take down the player for the pen as about 4 of the others let the guy waltz through

He needs a rest

I think Walker had him if Fernandinho had just applied some pressure without actually making the attempted tackle. Walker had showed him inside so he could make a tackle with his right leg, and if Fern didn't make the tackle, that's who Ghoulam was going to run into next.

He's been immense for 4 or 5 games on the trot, and if he only gets knackered and makes a few mistakes against a team as intense as Napoli then we're not going to have any problems this year, it's nothing to worry about.

one of our key player, VS Napoli a little bit tired , really really need a good cover for him ( a new DM signed)

Quality of decision making declined as,the game wore on but that's inevitable as he looked knackered. He may benefit from a rest.

He has been outstanding this season. Possibly better than he was in 13/14. The difference in his performance levels between the second half of last season and this season has been huge.

He was great up yo about 60 minutes when it was clear he was tiring. He covered a lot of ground with Napoli’s midfield playing lots of neat triangles.

Fernandinho is far too overused, IMO. He's 32 years old. And yet, we rely on him to play the bulk of each game in the P/L (703 min/8 games) and in the C/L (252 min/3 games). Compounding matters is that he's the holding mid in a high press, possession-oriented side.

If Pep doesn't trust other players to fill in for Fernandinho, we really need to sign someone to rotate in for him in the Winter window - given the amount of playing time Fernandinho is getting, and his age, and the position he's playing, and the fact that we're a pressing team - injury is bound to happen - or failing injury, worse and worse performances in games as the season wears on.

100%. Plus he's spent the better part of his career playing with Yaya in a midfield 2, which has to take a little bit extra out of the old legs.

Dinho was superb today against West Brom , scored a vital goal and was all over the pitch , when KDB's and Merlin's legs had gone in the 2nd half he was covering everything , we never used to appreciate GazBaz and what he did for the team , Dinho is similar he does the dirty work but also has that bit of class to open up the opposition.

Top class again.

Deserves an extension. In the summer we can buy a young DM and Fernandinho can play once a week. Would be ideal.

One of our best purchases IMO

Danny Murphy waxed lyrical about him on MOTD last night. And rightly so. He plays a vital role in the side, patrolling in front of the back 4, which allows Kev, Dave, Leroy etc to weave their spells. The fact that he has played comfortably over 40 times in each of the last 4 seasons (46, 43, 50 and 44) tells you what sort of regard Manuel and now Pep hold him in.

The qualities of GazBaz were never wasted on the GBAppSoc among the FOCs in CBL3. Loved the guy. We have some cracking players in our squad currently but which one is the GazBaz replacement? I think there isn't one. A truly wonderful footballer. What would he have been worth had he got the legs of Sterling or Sané? My over-riding memory of GazBaz would be the tackle/shoulder charge on that CFC full back Ivanovic (or similar) just on the halfway line. Swear to God the stand shook!
