Just out of curiosity, does anybody use (or know if they use) any other forums that use Invision Power software??

The reason I ask is that another forum I use (Sports Interactive Football Manager) is "upgrading" and will be using this new format - and there seems to be alot of scepticism around the idea.

Somebody asked if they could use "XenForo" - which I've noticed this forum uses (there wasn't a reply why XenForo couldn't be used)

My only take on the situation is that I've left various other forums when they have changed their software as some of it isn't too user friendly - mancityfans.net being one of them, not been on there for years now

The main difference is clunkyness. Xenforo is smooth and has less add ons and features in general from an admins pov and user. This helps with high traffic volume and general stability. Xenforo has had no need for patches and updates and ivpb have had 7 if memory serves. So for a large udb site that is juicy for hackers xenforo probably wins that to.

However if you have less users and like lots of toys ivpb is a perfectly fine choice, it really depends on the demands your system will be put under imo, that is how i look at stuff anyway.

In reply to your original question i know a few sites and they pretty much go by the above rule of thumb. That said i am still a fan of phpbb as i used TBsource a lot when torrents were in their prime.
