I don't agree. It's not as simple as that anymore. It's only a sending off if its a blatant effort to stop the man without playing the ball. Last night was a clash of legs nothing like a deliberate attempt to stop a goal scoring opportunity.
No point having video referees if they don't know the rules or don't understand the game.
He didn't make a 'legitimate attempt to play the ball' though, accident or no accident
Howard Webb described incidents like that as as if it was a car crash - the man behind has the responsibility to avoid the collision
