I'm on smart meters and seem to be in credit by a fair amount. Not sure if that helps but think I'm getting a better deal.

They cannot possibly charge you for power not consumed.
You will get a refund at year end and a recalibration of consumption.
Smart meters are not transferable to different companies. So if you get an npower one and want to subsequently change supplier it loses its smart capacity.

I changed to Ovo a couple of years ago and they are great. I gave the readings every month and paid for what I had used, simples. After a year they then had an accurate idea of what I use each month and I now pay monthly, but an accurate figure based on informed figures rather than this guesswork estimating overcharging bollocks that other companies do
