Well the Arsenal invincibles are remembered more for how they did it than Chelsea. I remember watching them with Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira , Pires, Overmars they were simply brilliant but i think our City team now would beat them and I think we'll beat both points & Goals record also this season.

We won't go unbeaten tho.

Overmars left Arsenal 4 years before the Invincibles. It's Llungberg that you might be thinking of.

What is happening at the moment is brilliant - love hearing people like Jonathon Pierce on Cheesy's blog saying its the best he's ever seen. It's certainly the best City side I've ever seen = but to really be the best they have to win titles and win them consistently. So for any of this to be worth anything we need to win the title this year - I expect we will, as the lead is such that it will need a monumental collapse to fail. But then we need to win again next year - so far we haven't even competed the year after winning a title - and then the really dominant sides of various eras win three on the trot - what nobody has done and therefore the new mark to aim is to win four in succession.

If we go through the season unbeaten or break points, wins goals records for a single season then we can debate if this was the best single season team ever - to be " The Greatest Premier League Team" takes much more than that. Lets loom forward to the debate in 2 1/2 years time ...

Bob on. For now it's just fantastic to be supporting a team getting people so excited. Playing a new brand of football. Hopefully we'll pick up the trophies we are clearly capable of too.

What I keep finding funny is after each victory the "greatest start to a premier league season" I know technically it still is but we are two games away from the half way stage! If we win until the end of the season will on the last day it be called the best start to a season?

Don't forget we had a good 'start' last season.

The top 3 points totals for English top flight teams ever (converted to 3 points for a win) are currently:
1978-79 Liverpool 98 points (P42 W30 D8 L4)
1960-61 Spurs 97 points (P42 W31 D4 L7)
2004-05 Chelsea 95 points (P38 W29 D8 L1) [Chelsea currently have the best points per game total ever].

City are currently on 87 points (P33 W28 D3 L2) with 5 games to go. If we win all 5 = 102 points; win 4 draw 1 = 100 points; win 4 lose 1 = 99 points - then we will be the best top flight team of all time. Win 3 draw 2 = 98 points and we equal the Liverpool and Spurs records that they bang on about all the time - but in a 38 game season rather than a 42 game season.
