Guardiola "bans overweight players from training"

Didn't anyone watch the press conference? He said it's the nutritionist that will decide everything not Pep as he says he knows little about any of that. Seems quite honest and humble of him to say that. Is it confirmed that we've got a new nutritionist at the club or was that a rumor? He's probably set a level where they should be and left the fitness coaches, nutritionist, chef etc to make sure that happens who will know more about who needs to do what to get to the level required.

He also denied he's banned anyone from training with the team, none of them were deemed overweight(might be being a bit kind on some there) but he wants them as fit as can be.

No it isn't. Carbohydrates play little part in post match recuperation. There's absolutely no evidence there's any benefit from consuming them.

It's glycogen that needs to be replaced and this is what Pep insists on within an hour of the final whistle. Proteins and glucose rather than carbs.
Glycogen and glucose are both carbohydrates.

Should be banning them from McDonalds and giving them extra training. The fat cunts. Don't want to name names though, apart from Yaya.

It's hard to accurately assess who might be in the fat-fighters training session without knowing what sort have individual weight limits and targets are applied.

At 5ft 3 and 3/4 for example and weighing just over 180 lbs, would that put put me in with the chubbsters?

Another twisted media headline.

Trust in pep.

He will revolutionise the BPl as much as Wenger did in his early years. The difference being Pep won't outstay his welcome.

This thread reads like one of those teenage magazines that I dread my son or daughter reads in fear that they might think themselves as 'fat' when they haven't got an ounce of fat to share between them! What the fuck is wrong with people nowadays?

Read a sport nutritionist talking about pizza and post match refueling. Said two interesting things. You do need the carbs but the issue with pizza is it comes with a lot of fat, red meat and other crap. There are much healthier ways of refueling.

Second thing was, when away from home a mass pizza delivery is the easiest thing to orgsnise. Single cheese pizza, or lean white meat like chicken, not double cheese, peperonni and the like.

Yep, without carbs, your body starts to feed off your muscles within so many hours of excercise. Carbs and protein are a must for muscle fatigue recovery.

Again, this isn't quite true but your body will be a in a negative net protein balance if you don't take any protein on for a prolonged period of time which will then influence muscle mass.

This talk of him banning 'overweight' players will hopefully be a misnomer and it's actually players who have increased their body fat % over the summer who have been given extra training. If it was weight alone then players who have put on predominately lean mass will be inappropriately treated.

It might also be that it is players who have not attained a certain level of fitness are not allowed to do the full contact sessions to lessen the chances of injury and weight is part of that assessment.
