Happy 60th Birthday Mark E Smith / RIP Mark E Smith lol (page 2) lol

Talking of the fall, I was at a gig at the Star and Garter on Friday watching the Smiths tribute from LA, the Sweet and Tender Hooligans and Simon Woolstencrodt the ex Fall drummer, nearly Smiths drummer and nearly Roses member got on stage with them for What difference does it make and Still Ill.

Very interesting for everyone that I'm sure!

Not seen Mark for many years used to have a pint with him in the Forresters in Prestwich

I was lucky enough to be invited to one of the early Umbro City kit launches. It was at a bar in the Northern Quarter, and Mark E. Smith was one of the celebrity guests. Still not sure to this day who thought that a free bar and Mark E. Smith would be a good combination, but it was funny watching the kit designer trying to give a presentation about why the kit had been tailored in a particular way whilst being loudly heckled by Smith. "Mike Doyle would turn in his fucking grave" was a particular highlight. After a few awkward minutes he was escorted off the premises. You don't get that with Nike, pfft.

I worked a festival headlined by The Fall a couple of years ago. Mark's rider for the evening consisted of 24 cans of Holsten Pils and 40 B&H.

I'm surprised the Star and Garter is still going, they've been trying to shut it down for a few years.
