Harry Kane

Oh and ...

15/16 he scored against Man City (Home and Away), Arsenal (Home and Away) , Liverpool, Chelsea and Champions Leicester

16/17 he scored against Arsenal (Home and Away) , Chelsea, Man Utd, Monaco, Leicester away (4 goals)

Scoring against any team he plays at present.
Not sure what more he can do
Read my post from a few pages ago addressing this. I'll say it again he never scores in a struggling side. The prestige of the opposition is irrelevant

Edit: Here it is in case you ignore it again

I don't care who the opposition is specifically. Big team or not. If people read my posts I refer to games where Tottenham struggle. Big teams actually often play a way that's too open and gives Kane a chance or two.

In 15/16, Kane scored a total of 0 goals in the few games Tottenham lost.

In 16/17, Kane scored one goal in two games that Tottenham lost. And one was a penalty.

To be fair, he scored in a struggling side tonight.
You can't watch that goal and say he did too much to score that given the quality of the cross.

It wasn't like we were outplayed anyway which is what I was inferring to. Not just us struggling due to general shitness

You've gotta get there though. His movement was very good.

It seems like a strange point though. He doesn't do well in the games that Spurs don't play well in. Surely that's the case for most strikers? Obviously the truly great strikers drag their team over the line with a bit of magic. With that in mind, it would probably be better to look at how many tight games where Spurs weren't quite at their best were won with a Harry Kane goal. I can't say I've watched them enough to know off the top of my head.

I think the one reason people are still a bit unsure about him is that he hasn't really shown it in the Champions League yet, with Spurs being so shit last season. But let's be honest, he's started well so far this season with 5 goals in 2 games.

Whenwas the last time a top scorer came from a mid table or lower team? Of course he’d struggle in a shit team. Look at messi, Argentina aren’t even going to qualify for the World Cup. Is he shit?
Fact is Kane has scored 20or more premier league goals in the last 3 seasons and been top scorer the last two. He IS a great striker.

Great player, would have at City in a heart beat.

The issue Kane has is he signed a 5 year contract extension last season.

If Spurs fail to meet his ambitions (invest in the squad and win things) it's going to be very difficult for him to leave. Levy will demand a fortune for him and it'll put the big clubs off. In today's market he's going to command a fee of upwards of 150million.

It's a fair way to think about it but there aren't many of those if you can believe it. Last season in the league the only three games where Tottenham struggled and Harry Kane made a decisive contribution that wasn't a penalty realistically were the Sunderland game at home and the West Ham game at home, even then his second was a penalty. In games they drew he only made a decisive contribution from the spot. In the season before the stats are even bleaker on that front, except in a couple games referenced in the larger post above (His Liverpool goal in 15/16 was genuinely world class I admit).

My general point about Harry Kane is he is a win bigger kind of player. I mean that if you're playing in a way where you're the better side and should probably or even just possibly win, he'll punish you and do excellently, regardless of who you are. In a side as good as Tottenham that's a regular occurence. That's why he has a habit of scoring braces and hattricks. It's a testament to how good he is that he's so consistent at it.

But every now and again Tottenham play a side that somehow stifle them. A side which cuts of the supply lines and/or pins them back. A good example might be our home draw against them last season. We completely cut them off and dominated proceedings, and their goals only came from poor defending ultimately. But the point is that in that game, Kane didn't exactly have any chances to score. Now that he didn't actually score is not a stick to beat him with I admit. Anything can happen in one game. It's just he doesn't tend to score in ANY game like that. Like the away loss to Liverpool last season too. Do you not think a truly world class player would maybe do something incredible in the odd few games? Because that's what world class players do, they defy the odds against them and somehow come up with the goods. It's something we see players like Messi and Ronaldo do all too often. Aguero has had a habit of doing it. Not many do it but that's why they're world class.

Please don't assume 'm denying his talent. Just because I don't think he's world class doesn't mean I think he's shit. It literally just means I do not hold him in the same regard as the absolute best strikers out there. He's still brilliant though.

They almost certainly will

Yeah he is great I'd happily have him at City even if the opportunity ever arose. But I just feel that he is not world class. Why's that such a problem?

As I've said btw, it's not a case of struggling in a shit team. It's a case of the odd few games where his already very good side struggle to create chances. As in a side good enough to have supposedly brilliant players who can do brilliant things. In theory even when they struggle they should have players who can bail them out even when it's looking unlikely. In fact they do. It's just that it's almost never Kane. In fact it was almost always one of Alli or Son.

I doubt he will move, would you as a city fan leave city ?

Big spuds fan isn't he and he is obviously happy enough with the cash they are paying even though it is "low" lol by football standards, who couldn't live off 50k a week while playing for the club you love, ideal world really.

I'd say the opposite. The fact he's English is precisely why he's overrated.

The problem is that he isn't overrated. His quality cannot be doubted. Like I said. if he was Brazilian people here would already be saying he's world class.

And it's even a habit that yourself saying that he's overrated because he's English.

This is such a BS comment. I have seen numerous games from City where Aguero is completely stifled and can't do anything, it's even worse in international games because Aguero gets really exposed. It's also funny when people say that Jesus is better than Kane when I have never seen Jesus really do anything when the team is struggling. His effectiveness in a game when City are struggling is as much as nacho when he was here. I've seen the same with Hazard and Sanchez as well who are claimed to be "World Class" players.
