I was under the impression that they train with the first team all the time and have done since pre-season.
The way we do it these days, you could say that and be half-right... the EDS and academy train alongside the first team, but each squad do some of their own training. Sometimes EDS squad members, and academy squad members, are also placed in first team training for a spell. That doesn't mean they are in the squad, as evidenced when they then play in the reserve and academy leagues as opposed to the Premier League. Point is, if they are struggling to get so much as a seat on the bench, and are never a contender for playing time, they cannot be considered to be first team regulars. The OP was asking if any / how many of these kinds of players, either those that have been floating around or just their contemporaries, will get a run in the squad.
At this time in the season that number stands at naught. If we remain unbeaten for much longer, which is highly plausible, that could assure Pep that there is nothing at risk by giving them a chance.
I'm sure part of the reason the OP asks is Pep's reputation for blooding the youth. He has also talked extensively on the subject in a few interviews at the Etihad, and of course just seeing the names on the bench places that idea in the mind. All that and the whole "hollistic" blueprint we have been sold, points toward us seeing them play soon. Whatever happens though, we can hardly grumble when looking at the majority of performances so far, and results throughout the season so far!
