Di Matteo was assistant at Chelsea for 8 months!Not left out just didn't class him as a true assistant. He did it for less than 6 months before taking over from Saunders and that was after being caretaker manager.

Looks like they are going for Marco SIlva to replace Phelan, which could be a great move if they give him time, which they probably won't given their owners history. But given that they will probably go down, he'd be a great choice to rebuild the club on a tight budget. The job he did at Estoril was one of the best I can remember from a manager in Portugal, taking a tiny club with no money, history or fans and getting them promoted and then into Europe, it was like something you'd do one football manager. It'll be interesting to see what he does with them if he does get the job and any leeway

Absolute shambles of a club. Can't even fill the bench with proper players. Phelan only took it as know one else would. I said at the time that Bruce did well to walk when he did and he made it quite clear that the owners were not willing to spend a bean - any decent manager would walk from that situation.
They deserve to go down.
