It’s a list of transfers ( not values) adjusted to todays equivalent transfer value, based on a football transfer fee inflation rate per year that Tomkins has worked out.
Whether the inflation rate is completely accurate is for debate, but it’s a reasonably accurate way of comparing transfer values across time periods, than comparing a figure directly.

Rio’s figure is the biggy. For a defender. Back in 2004. The amount of united players in the top 100 from the early 2000’s shows the level of money dominance.

Shevchenko’s table topping shows the mad excesses of abramovich at that time.
