Record to be proud of, basically scoring a lot against cannon fodder and the B team in the group, and only manages to score against big teams when nobody cares and they aren't really trying. 4 goals against teams you'd go "oh...cool", all in friendlies, the other 46, when he's easily in the bigger team, give him Uruguay, maybe Russia and a couple of the Croatian, but otherwise, it's like your top scorer for the season at City being someone with 5 league goals but managing 15 in the League Cup, when all the ties happened to be League 1 and League 2 opposition.

Very telling, pity no-one in the media has anything but gushing and wanking for him getting the record.

Too right. Goals against San Marino, Andorra, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein and Estonia = 13 in total (26%).

Goals against Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal = zero.

What does that tell us? I have not seen or heard it on the media!

One against Argentina, though. That makes it all right............

I love it, now that he is confirmed as the best striker the universe has ever seen by the media, the rags will have to play him. The goal drought will continue.

Not sure why people on here are bothered about the Rooney love in, it's quite clear to see that he's not the player he once was and has shown no signs of rediscovering anything near his top level - all this praise and such does is cements his "undroppable" tag even more at United, and I for one have no qualms with that.

And to put it in a bit of perspective the 23 year old Neymar with 67 caps (40 less) scored his 46th international goal last night.
