Is football about winning or entertainment?

The reason Pep gets the big bucks is he has the magic formula, entertaining football that wins. The goal is the Sheikh gets his Champions League, we watch fabulous winning football and little Chinese lads and lassies get to wear knocked off City shirts.

If you gave any manager the choice of being entertaining or winning trophies, 99% would say the latter. It's a results driven business, and if a club is expected to win trophies and doesn't (but plays entertaining football), the manager is on thin ice. Take Liverpool and Spurs (please, take them!); if they end up potless next may, Klippity and Poch will be under severe pressure next season. Doesn’t matter to their owners that they are playing entertaining football. I know people will cite Arsenal as an example to prove the opposite. But they're a one off, they seem to be happy with the way they are going.

We in the position at the moment where we have both, last season wasnt much fun though even the wins at the begining of last season were a struggle. The difference for me is if you play Mouriniho type football but are scoring 3/4 goals a game then is that acceptable.
If you are one of the lower teams who constantly struggle ala Sunderland (sorry Stockport Mackem) then do you accept boring football to stay in the league.
Just look at th Baggie fans staying away and that is what will get Pullis the sack.
