Okay, thought this would make for an interesting topic to chat and argue about.

It's become quite clear that the transfer market in Jan is completely dead.

Why? What's caused this? It hasn't always been...so why now?

Massive increase in revenues and record profits combined with an increase in billionaire owners has made more clubs financially secure and able to tell big clubs to piss off when they come in with a January offer.

Similarly the increase in competitiveness that the money has brought means fewer clubs are in the "nothing to play for" category. We've got 5 clubs in a relegation race, 6 competing for the top 4, so that's over half the league for whom selling is a complete no-go.

Do you think your second point also trickles down to players?

The days where Danny Rose would leave Spurs "to win trophies" are diminishing?

Can't speak for other clubs, but Sheikh Mansour is probably still reeling from signing off £25m on Wilfried Bony in January 2015.

Most of the signings have been sensible. You sense Sunderland and Hull are preparing for the Championship.

Combination of price rises and owners pocketing tv money to blame for me. Only us and rags have spent the extra income, continually poor scouting and competitive European leagues also to blame, plenty of selling clubs in either title or CL qualification battles, last year France, Germany, Italy were sewn up, this year only Chelsea, Olympiacos & Celtic have their leagues won really.

Teams can pick up the odd bargain but normally January is a desperation transfer window.
