It's quiet... summer 2018.

Seems ridiculous to make Mbappe and Thiago our primary targets. The chance of PSG or Bayern letting them go is negligible. PSG may need to sell, but I think they'll look to get rid of Di Maria, Draxler and a few others rather than Mbappe, who seems settled. And there is absolutely no chance that Bayern sell arguably their best player at a time that they're looking to become competitive at the top of Europe once again.

We need a defensive midfielder and an attacker. If we sign a third then I think it will be a versatile utility player like Bertrand, who would be able to cover at both left-back and centre-back. Realistic targets that we should be looking at include: Savic, Fred, Weigl, Zaha, Mahrez, Ousmane Dembele and possibly Martial (if United are stupid enough to let him go). There might also be a very small chance of prising Hazard away from Chelsea, but he will cost an absolute fortune.

Mbappe is on loan surely ?

Does the 'option to buy' include Mbappe not having the choice ?
Think the agreement to buy this summer is what's landed them in trouble. I was under the impression in January they need to bring in 80mill plus euros to satisfy FFP as UEFA were counting the Mbappe deal as agreed. They didn't get anywhere near that.

I think it is not an option to buy, but rather a commitment to buy. They didn't pay a loan fee.

The contract is apparently worded so the transfer becomes final unless PSG get relegated (impossible now) but If both teams were in agreement it could presumably be broken.

The problem from our point of view is that PSG have a lot of very sellable assets. News today is that Tuchel will get rid of Cavani and Silva - that's probably near 100m alone, then there's Pastore, Ben Arfa, Draxler, Di Maria, Kurzawa, Guedes and Jese who they sell all of to keep hold of Mbappe.

There's no way they fail to raise any amount of funds needed.

TBF, if we had all those players to sell, we would probably end up loaning them all to Roma and raise a tenner.

Don't know much about their squad so just surmising but would selling all them to raise the money mean they need to sign replacements ? where selling Mbappe or Neymar would bring the money in without depleting the squad too much.
